Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the PetVet platform (petvet.org.za and associated applications), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our services.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and PetVet (PTY) Ltd (Registration No. 2026/370983/07), a company registered in South Africa.

2. Description of service

PetVet provides a pet health management platform that allows pet owners to:

• Create and maintain digital health records for their pets
• Set and receive reminders for vaccinations and veterinary appointments
• Track pet-related expenses
• Store pet-related documents securely
• Share health information with registered veterinary practices (optional)

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time with reasonable notice to users.

3. User accounts

Registration

You must create an account to use PetVet. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration and to keep this information updated.

Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at support@petvet.org.za.

One account per person

Each account is for use by a single individual. You may not share your account credentials with others or create accounts on behalf of other persons without their consent.

Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use PetVet to:

• Violate any applicable South African or international law or regulation
• Upload false, misleading, or fraudulent pet health information
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Transmit viruses, malware, or any other malicious code
• Harvest or collect personal information of other users
• Use the platform for commercial purposes without our written consent
• Interfere with the proper functioning of the platform

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these conditions.

5. Your content

Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you upload to PetVet, including pet health records, documents, and images. By uploading content, you grant PetVet a limited licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing you with our services.

Accuracy

You are responsible for the accuracy of all information you enter into PetVet. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or consequences arising from inaccurate health records.

Prohibited content

You may not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Free tier

PetVet offers a free tier with limited features. No payment information is required to use the free tier.

Paid subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly unless otherwise agreed directly with PetVet for a clinic plan or another custom arrangement. All prices are stated in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Cancellation

You may request cancellation of your subscription at any time by contacting hello@petvet.org.za. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for partial periods, except where required by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days' written notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.

7. Disclaimer — not veterinary advice

PetVet does not verify the accuracy of health records entered by users or the qualifications of veterinary professionals listed in records. We are a tool to help you organise and track information — not a substitute for professional veterinary care.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, PetVet (PTY) Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of PetVet shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or R500, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under South African law.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the platform settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms of Service, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice where possible.

10. Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

We encourage you to contact us in the first instance to resolve any disputes informally before pursuing formal legal proceedings.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by prominent notice on the platform at least 30 days before changes take effect.

Your continued use of PetVet after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you must stop using the platform.
